Why selah?
The word means, pause and think calmly about this. It is a musical term from the Psalms, and a beautiful word in every way. It embodies calm, reflection, the slow weight of thoughts against the day.
Of course, this is not the perfect meaning, which has been lost to time. Wikipedia indicates that there are several possibilities. However, the resonance of “pause and reflect” has given direction to my days, a reminder when I feel like things are moving too quickly.
