It was so silent she not only heard it, but felt it. Something was wrong, but what?
Jain paused her studying – again – to check the message from Jare. To be honest, she wasn’t sure how the book had ended up there. It wasn’t intentional, it might have been something as simple as having misplaced it and forgotten. So why did she feel so guilty about it? Why hadn’t she replied to Jare yet? Why couldn’t she keep better track of her belongings?
Sighing heavily, she closed the book in frustration and got up to look out the huge windows. The view from the comfortable and quiet study lounge was of the moderately sized courtyard and gardens out back of the compound, and forests beyond. She could just barely make out the very edge of the transportation hub connected to it off to the right. It was a nice day, and a lot of people were outside. But, with a test coming up, she had no choice but to try to force the information into her head one way or another. Being outdoors was way too distracting.
Sighing heavily a second time, she turned away from the sunny day and got her book. and decided to find a different place to work for a bit. Perhaps that would help.
No, no it wouldn’t. She had to confront her sister.
“Hi Jare…” she began.
